Enfield 6, Suffield 5

Suffield 6, Enfield 4 – Suffield came back with strong defense in game two of the double header, defeating Enfield 6 – 4 at Bruce Park in Suffield.

Enfield got on the early with Betsy Harvey scoring in the bottom of the first on a deep double by Nicole Delano who went 3 for 3 in the outing and scoring a run.

Suffield took the lead in the 3rd inning and held it for the remainder of the game. Scoring for Suffield were Kalleigh Peterson on a double by Sarah Emery who was driven in by a triple by Julie Muscarella. Muscarella was later driven in by Sam Cieri.

Enfield’s Betsy Harvey followed with a run in the bottom of the frame on a single by Nicole Delano.

Suffield put up two more runs in the top of the 5th with Barb Kaplan scoring on a well hit triple by Alex Siskos who was later driven in by Lauren Mercik.

Suffield’s Sarah Emery tacked on a final run in the top of 5 with some smart base running.

Enfield threatened in the bottom of 7 with Betsy Harvey leading off with a triple and once again being driven in by Nicole Delano. Delano later scored on a single by Nicole Meunier.

Pitching duties for Suffield were handled by Angie Moskwa and Sara Emery. Betsy Harvey and Amanda Farnan shared the pitching duties for Enfield.

Simbury 3, West Hartford 0 – Molly Rathbun allowed 1 hit, struck out 15 West Hartford batters, and drove in a run with a triple.

Simbury 12, West Hartford 0 – Brooke Nici pitched the second one-hitter of the day for Simsbury, allowing just two batters to reach base.

Bristol 9, South Windsor 3 – Bristol took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. Scoring 3-runs on a combination of hits by Christina Wolf and Rachel Denny and a defensive error, Bristol took early control of the game. Rachel added a solo over-the-fence Homerun in the third and Brianna Martin scored in the 4th to bring the lead to 5-0. In the top of the fifth, South Windsor mounted a comeback scoring 2-runs behind the strong hitting of Jenna & Candace tighting the game to 5-2. Bristol put the game away for good in the sixth inning scoring 4 runs on 5-hits with Rachel Denny collecting her third hit of the game and additional hits from Steph Konopaske, Kelly Guarieri, Brianna Martin & Alexa Plantamuro. South Windsor added a run in the 7th when Jordan lead off the inning with a single and was moved along to be able to score. Brittany Soucy recored the win in the circle pitching all 7-innings.

Bristol 15, Vernon 5 – Bristol wins their second game of the day vs Vernon behind the pitching of Kristin Parente who recorded 9-strikouts in a 15-5 win. The game was close after 4-innings with Bristol holding a 1-run lead at 3-2. Then the game changed. In the top of the fifth, Bristol, the visiting team, scored 5-runs, on 4-walks, a double by Brianna Martin and singles by Lauren Schiedel & Kristin Parente. Kristin helped herself today by going 3 for 4 at the plate. Vernon came back in the bottom half of the inning scoring Steph Vallario, who got on base all four of her plate appearances. The Bristol Falcons added another run in the top of the sixth with back-to-back hits by Stephanie Johnson, who had 3-hits in the game & Brittany Soucy, but again the Vernon Rebels fought back scoring two runs, by J. Little & G. Dube and leaving two on that if scored would have made it a 1-run game. Bristol slammed the door shut with a 6-run, top of the seventh rally. Vernon got a quick two outs to start the inning, when 6 of the next 7 batters recorded hits, none bigger then a 3-run, over-the-fence, homerun by Rachel Denny.

Vernon 12, South Windsor 0 –  Stephanie Vallario was 4-5 with three runs scored, Shauna Sullivan was 2-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Kerry Sawamura was 2-3 with a walk and two runs scored also. Jojo Muenier pitched a three hitter with 7 k’s over 6 innings.
